Towering kelp forests sway with the current, creating quiet underwater canyons filled with light, shadow, and life. California giant kelp can grow incredibly fast, up to about 2 feet per day in ideal conditions.

Casino Point Dive Park
The first nonprofit underwater park in the country, this two acre marine protected area is one of the best shore diving spots in California. It’s perfect for new divers, with plenty of marine life and an easy stairway entry into the water.

Year Round Diving

Sea Lions
Fast, curious, and full of personality, sea lions often appear out of nowhere and are playful enough to swim right alongside divers. They can dive to depths of over 900 feet, hold their breath for up to 10 minutes, and are often seen gathering in large, social colonies along the coast of California.

Giant Black Sea Bass
Casino Point Dive Park is home to over 800 species of marine life, including the iconic Giant Black Sea Bass. Once nearly wiped out by overfishing, they are now protected and slowly returning. A true giant of the ocean, it can reach nearly 7.5 feet in length, weigh up to 560 pounds, and live up to 75 years.
